ABOUT

LES FRERES-UNIS

Established in 2014 with a mission of raising funds for the support of Guinean children attending school. Les Freres-Unis is a non-profit organization with the aim to spread education in Guniea by helping every child attend school and learn the abilities and skills that will help them in a bright future. We at Les Freres-Unis are a group of young Guinean-Americans who moved to the U.S. to
continue their education and now want to help our young generation in our previous home country to grow.

In Guinea, about half of all children are unable to attend primary school, as the majority of the families lack the financial means to send their children to primary school for the full six years. By secondary school, two-thirds of all children have completely stopped attending school due to unavailability of resources, qualified teachers and lack of financial funds.

The cost of supporting a child is very low, but this donation can give them enormous benefits and includes all the basic necessities, including; all tuition, books, uniforms, medical care, and registration in after-school programs. All these benefits are covered under a few hundred dollars and can be life-changing for these underprivileged kids. For just $400 per student every year, we can buy them a bright future and healthy lifestyle, which is the right of every human being on this planet.

The founders of Les Freres-Unis frequently refer to “the two Guineas” today. On the one hand, Guinea is rich in natural resources and agriculture. It is the world’s second-largest bauxite producer, a requirement for aluminium production, and it has abundant diamond and gold deposits. Additionally, it is a dynamic country with 24 diverse ethnic groups coexisting peacefully, and its extensive Atlantic coastline has abundant offshore oil potential. On the other hand, Guinea is beset by pervasive poverty, starvation, subpar healthcare, and corruption. However, it also has its greatest potential due to its worst issue—a sizable population of illiterate adolescents.

Les Freres-Unis is aware that educating Guinea’s youth will lower unemployment, improve citizens’ general health, spur the growth of small businesses, reduce crime, and, most importantly, give regular Guineans a voice in the development of their stunning country and the creation of one Guinea, for all.

The creators have already gathered a significant sum of money and are actively sponsoring a small number of children with education. Different community leaders are also interested in our project and helping us to achieve our mission of sponsoring education.

Our team members belong to Guinea, where we were born and travelled all the way to the United States to continue with our higher studies. Our goals were based on the fundamental idea that, with effort, we could improve our lives here for ourselves and our families. We quickly saw that by connecting with other Guinean Americans around the country, we could enhance our social lives and forge a solid community based on our ancestry. By banding together, we could support one another, concentrating solely on our commonalities rather than our ethnic differences, forming strong ties to Guinea and the U.S. and equipping us to handle many of the issues the globe is currently facing.

With our hearts always with our Guinean community, we established Les Freres-Unis, often known as United Brothers, in 2008 as a social club. We became “family” and were quite successful at supporting one another through the difficulties of daily life in the U.S.

The Les-Freres-United States has thought carefully over the past seven years about how to effectively use our “caring and sharing” mentality to include the children in our country by giving them the resources to build a better life. Everyone can make a difference by assisting one child at a time, so we urge everyone to join Les Freres-Unis in the fight against poverty.
